Device is on an updated version but kernel version is backdated

Problem phenomenon:

If the device is on an updated version, why is my Kernel version backdated?

Causes:

If your phone is running on Android 15, your phone's kernel might be based on Android 13, as kernel upgrades are not required when updating the platform release, and older kernels can still be used.

This is because the kernel version is the version number of the hardware driver assembly (such as motherboard, GPS, camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) of the phone.
