Lag or stuttering in the camera viewfinder often happens due to lighting conditions, your phone's current status, or software compatibility. This is usually the system automatically adjusting to ensure image quality or save battery life. Please check the following solutions.

I. Environment and Device Status

1. Improve Lighting Conditions

In low-light environments, the camera automatically increases exposure time and optimizes image quality to ensure clear photos. This can cause the viewfinder frame rate to drop or the shutter to respond more slowly.

  • Suggestion: Move to a well-lit area, or try turning on the flash. Tapping the screen to manually focus can also help reduce the system's calculation time.

2. Keep Your Battery Charged

When the battery is below 20%, the system limits hardware performance to extend battery life. This can cause lag during high-load tasks like using the camera.

  • Suggestion: Charge your phone promptly and use the camera once the battery level is sufficient.

II. Software and App Settings

1. Uninstall Third-Party Camera Apps

Third-party photography or beauty apps may conflict with the system camera's permissions, causing performance issues.

  • Suggestion: If you have installed such apps, try uninstalling them and then check if the built-in system camera works smoothly.

2. Reset Camera Data

Corrupted cache data can cause delays.

  • Suggestion: Long-press the Camera icon, tap App Info, go to Storage Usage, and select Clear Data.

Note: This will NOT delete your photos. It only restores camera settings to their defaults.

III. System Resource Optimization

1. Free Up RAM and Storage

Having too many apps running in the background or low storage space (we recommend keeping at least 20% free) puts a heavy load on the processor.

  • Suggestion: Close apps from your recent tasks list. Also, go to Phone Manager and tap Clean Up Storage to delete unnecessary files.

2. Restart Your Phone

If the phone hasn't been restarted for a long time, cache files can build up.

  • Suggestion: Restart your phone to clear the memory and reset the system status. Additionally, go to Settings > About Device > Click the top card to check for updates and install the latest version.

If the above methods do not solve the problem, please back up your important data and visit a realme Customer Service Center with your proof of purchase for further inspection.
