Phone heating during calls or video calls

Video calls are a high-performance task for your phone. The device needs to run the camera, screen, speaker, and network transmission modules simultaneously. Because the processor is working at high speed to handle all this, generating some heat is a normal physical phenomenon. Please feel free to use your device with confidence.

To improve your experience and keep the phone cool, we suggest following these tips:

I. Quick Cooling & Environment Adjustments

1. Clear Background Apps

Before or during a call, please close apps running in the background that you don't need. This frees up processor resources and lowers the workload on the system.

2. Optimize Network Signal

We recommend connecting to a stable Wi-Fi network whenever possible. In areas with weak signals, your phone increases power to search for a connection, which increases battery drain and heat.

3. Improve Heat Dissipation

Avoid placing your phone on surfaces that trap heat, such as blankets or sofas. If you use a protective case and the phone feels hot, we suggest removing it temporarily to help the heat escape.

4. Adjust Screen & Volume

Lower the screen brightness appropriately or use auto-brightness. We also recommend using headphones for calls; this not only reduces heat generated by the speaker but also improves call clarity.

II. Settings & Usage Habits

1. Avoid Using While Charging

Both charging and video calling generate heat. Doing both at the same time will cause the temperature to rise significantly. We suggest ensuring you have enough battery before starting a call or unplugging the charger during the call.

2. Check App & System Updates

Please ensure your phone system and video calling apps (such as WhatsApp, Zoom, or WeChat) are updated to the latest versions to benefit from the latest power-saving optimizations.

3. Use External Cooling

Long video calls cause heat to accumulate over time. If you need to make very long calls, we suggest using a phone cooling fan (heat sink clip) or taking short breaks to let the phone cool down.

If the issue remains unresolved, please back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized realme Service Center for assistance.
