If your phone gets hot while not in use, it is usually caused by environmental factors or background activity. Follow this step-by-step guide to cool it down.

I. Check the Environment

When the surrounding temperature is high, the phone's surface temperature will rise, causing it to feel hot. We recommend using your phone in a suitable temperature environment and paying attention to the following two points:

1. Avoid High-Temperature Environments

Do not leave your phone in direct sunlight for long periods (such as on a car dashboard or balcony) or in hot, enclosed spaces (like tight pockets, under blankets, or between sofa cushions). When using it outdoors in summer, try to keep it in the shade.

2. Create Conditions for Heat Dissipation

Placing your phone on a hard surface with good heat conductivity (like a glass table or metal stand) helps heat dissipate better. Avoid placing it on objects that trap heat, such as plastic, wooden furniture, or fabric.

II. Clear Background Activity

Running multiple apps in the background or keeping high-power features on will continuously use processor resources, leading to heating during standby.

1. Clear Background Apps

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the recent tasks view, then close any unnecessary apps running in the background.

2. Turn Off Unused High-Power Features

Check for and turn off features you aren't using (such as Personal Hotspot, Bluetooth, NFC, or GPS). It is especially important to turn off Personal Hotspot immediately after use to prevent continuous power drain and heating.

III. Restart and Update

1. Restart Your Phone

If your phone heats up occasionally due to a temporary system glitch, restarting it can clear temporary cache and errors. This is an efficient first step to solving the problem.

2. Update to the Latest System

Go to Settings > About Device, tap the version number at the top, and check for updates. Installing the latest system version often fixes known power consumption issues and optimizes stability, which can help reduce heating.

IV. Advanced Battery Management

If the problem persists after trying the steps above, you can try these deeper system adjustments:

1. Enable Power Saving Mode

Go to Settings > Battery and enable Power Saving Mode. This mode effectively lowers power consumption and heat by limiting processor performance, reducing screen brightness, and restricting background activity.

2. Uninstall Apps with Abnormal Battery Usage

Go to Settings > Battery to view battery usage details. If you find an app draining an unusual amount of power in the background, try uninstalling it or strictly restricting its background activity.

VI. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If the issue persists, consider resetting the device.

  • Note: This will erase all data. Please backup your data first.

  • Path: Settings > Search for "Erase all data" or "Reset phone".
