Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot:
1. Deleting the Google account and re-adding it.
2. Turn off "Google Contacts Sync".
Path: Settings > Google > Settings for Google apps > Google Contacts Sync > Turn off sync.
3. Upgrading to the latest version.
